![]() "TO SEE IS TO KNOW" is the fundamental belief and driving force at the LAB at Carver. Our goal is to prepare young minds for the heart work of post-secondary achievement in any of the over 200 health professions. We believe that a critical ingredient in this preparation is exposure. Our students receive not only intensive rigorous college preparatory instruction, but are engaged in classrooms without borders; the city and all the resources within our minds' eyes are the students’ laboratory. This inaugural year has been frought with many new experiences and opportunities for students and staff alike, and our achievements in attendance, leadership, altruism, and academics continue to set the pace. We are committed to creating an infectious epidemic of critical thinkers, high achievers, and leaders in our 21st century global economy. With a deep understanding and breadth of experiences in the allied health sciences, our students will be prepared to shine in a world where over 15% of health care positions, including nurses, physicians, and researchers go unfilled each year, a Nation where health care in the next decade will dominate the political, educational, and workforce landscape, a State that is recommitting its resources to focus on equity and access in health care for all, a city with such an abundance of health care facilities, services, and academic institutions, and a community in such need of more committed health care activists, leaders, scholars, thinkers, and health care professionals. With the support and engagement of all the shareholders in the village: parents, community and business partners, students, and staff, there is no doubt that we can create a high achieving community of learners and make the LAB at Carver a model of success for the nation.
